Success Portrait
Lanier Automated Systems provided software engineering services to Orbital
Sciences Corporation, Transportation Management Systems Division, developing
the ORBCAD integrated Computer Aided Dispatch/Automated Vehicle Location system.
ORBCAD is a component of the ORBTRAC product line, a satellite and GPS-based
vehicle fleet management system providing real-time vehicle location information
and computer-aided dispatching for mass transit systems. ORBCAD's client/server
architecture consists of several GNU C++ server applications, ORACLE 8.x and
Sun Solaris on the host connecting via TCP/IP over Ethernet with Windows-based
clients written in VC++ using MFC. Provide object-oriented analysis, class design,
development and implementation using Visual C++, MFC, ESRI MapObjects and Rogue
Wave Tools.h++, dbTools.h++ and Objective Toolkit class libraries. Assignments
at Orbital entailed significant tasking writing communications components using
TCP and UDP to interface with mobile radio networks utilizing RF protocols, as
well as porting UNIX-based applications to run under both UNIX and Windows operating
system environments.
